Mumbai: Passengers aboard Rajdhanis, Tejas and Jan Shatabdi express trains will now be able to give their opinion on the food served and rate the courteousness of the staff in these premier trains via tablets. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will be providing the tablets to its passengers after complaints surfaced recently about the quantity of food aboard the Tejas.
Passengers will be able to rate both the quality of food and the staff on a scale of 1 to 5 and the move is being made to deal with the spate of complaints by passengers from Tejas, which was launched on June 23 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Madgaon, Goa.
Railway officials said the initiative would begin soon. Passengers will get the tablets mid-journey. A railway official said, "There were a lot of issues that the passengers had raised, like the fact that breakfast was not served when the train departs at 5 am, and instead lunch was directly served at 1 pm."
In addition to the quality of food, the courteousness of the staff will be rated too. An official said, "All trains like the Tejas, Rajdhani, and August Kranti had never been rated in terms of the service provided by the staff. this will be a first."
