Mumbai: With chief minister Devendra Fadnavis set to resume his Maha Janadesh Yatra from August 21, the Congress has decided to start launch a Pol Khol Yatra from August 20 to expose the claims made by the CM.

Chairman of the Congress campaign committee, Nana Patole said the yatra would start from Mozari village in Amravati, where the chief minister had started his yatra. Interestingly, the yatra will adopt the route travelled by the chief minister during his yatra.

“As chief minister Devendra Fadnavis did not invite us for the debate, we have chalked out Pol Khol Yatra from Mozari,” Mr. Patole said.

The Congress leader further said that people will know the truth about the development  work under the current regime.

The Asian Age had reported in its August 4 edition that the party is planning to counter claims made by the chief minister during the Maha Janadesh Yatra.

While inaugurating the yatra at Mozari on August 1, Mr Fadnavis had claimed that his government had completed more number of development projects compared to the previous Congress-NCP government.

The chief minister had also challenged the Opposition to a debate on the state of development in Maharashtra. Mr Patole had accepted the challenge and had asked him to inform the venue and time for the debate.

The Maha Jandesh Yatra was chalked out to cover at least 152 out of the total 288 Assembly constituencies.

Mr Fadnavis was expected to address 104 rallies and 200 small meetings during the yatra.

However, the floods in Western Maharashtra forced the chief minister to cut short the first leg of the yatra on August 6.

Maharashtra is expected to go to polls in October 2019.
