Mumbai: Bollywood actor Armaan Kohli’s lawyer Lakshmi Raman on Friday submitted his client’s affidavit expressing “remorse and regret” over having assaulted his girlfriend, Neeru Randhawa, after a spat. The Bombay high court had directed Kohli to do so on Thursday. The court then quashed the FIR registered against Kohli by the Santacruz police.

Kohli sent his affidavit from Arthur Road jail where he is being kept in judicial custody. The court observed that since Ms Randhawa did not wish to take the case forward, it would be best to quash the FIR. In the affidavit, Kohli also assured the court that he would not repeat the offence.

Kohli, a former Bigg Boss contestant, moved a petition before the high court on Thursday when the court asked him to express his remorse and regret over the incident. Accordingly, Kohli on Friday filed his affidavit saying he will not repeat such an act in future.

Ms Randhawa, who was present in court, also filed an affidavit stating that she and Kohli had decided to amicably settle the matter following the intervention of Kohli’s family and their mutual friends. She told the court that she had already received some monetary compensation from Kohli’s family and that she was to receive some other post-dated cheques from them.

“We hope and trust that the petitioner Kohli will abide by what is stated in the affidavit in its true spirit,” the court said. The court directed the actor to deposit an amount of `1 lakh with the Tata Memorial Children’s Treatment Centre and another `1 lakh with the National Association for the Blind within six months from Friday.

Rajkumar Kohli, father of the actor, was also present during the hearing but said he was unaware of the settlement.

The court then asked Kohli’s brother-in-law Raman Bhandari about the settlement, to which, he said he and his family were aware of the same.
