Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party will protest against the state and Central governments in all tehsil offices of the state from October 15 to October 20. The party has also warned of a ‘gherao’ agitation against all ministers in the state.  

“Maharashtra is facing a severe drought. Almost 200 tehsils are affected, but the state government is not taking adequate measures. A drought has not been declared yet. So, there is anger among the people over the state government’s apathy. The NCP will give a voice to that anger,” said Nationalist Congress Party state chief Jayant Patil.

Party workers have been asked to hold agitations across all tehsils from October 15 to October 20 and submit a memorandum with the people’s signatures. These memorandums will have demands such as the declaration of droughts and redu-ction in fuel prices.

“If this government does not move after October 20, our workers will start blocking roads and we will not allow a single minister to move around the state. The gherao will also be held in Mumbai,” warned Mr Patil.

As fuel prices and the drought-like situation in Maharashtra has disturbed the common people to the core, NCP has upped its game. “The Bharatiya Janata Party’s failure to handle economic issues is the major hope for Opposition parties to return to power. Now just four months are left for the announcement of the general elections. So, the battle has already started.”

“The Nationalist Congress Party is trying to take the lead in the battle through continuous agitations,” said senior political observer Anant Dikshit.
