Mumbai: Mumbai has been receiving good rainfall since last three days owing to the Cyclone Vayu, bringing a relief to sweltering weather last week. Good spell of rains are likely over Mahabaleshwar, Vengurla, Matheran, Dahanu, Satara, Kolhapur and Mumbai, according to the weathermen.

As per Skymet Weather, a private weather forecasting agency, the Cyclonic system has moved away but its outer peripheral clouds are affecting Maharashtra. In addition to that, strong winds from the southwest direction are blowing in the state, which has initiated rains.

“A trough is extending from coastal Karnataka up to Kerala. This trough is moving across the Maharashtra coast. Thus, good on and off rains are expected to continue over the entire coastal area of Maharashtra including Mumbai, until the arrival of monsoon,” read the report by Skymet Weather.

During the last 24 hours since Thursday, the Santacruz and Colaba observatories recorded 17.4mm and 6mm of rainfall. On Friday till 6 pm, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) recorded 0.26mm of rains. The eastern and western suburbs recorded 4.83 mm and 0.41mm of rainfall.
