Mumbai: A day after meeting between Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar and former union minister and Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde, Mr Ambedkar said that the Congress is a party of donkeys.   

Mr. Ambedkar and Mr. Shinde are contesting Lok Sabha election against each other in Solapur constituency. Both the leaders meeting had led to speculations about a compromise formula between both the leaders. However, both leaders denied that there were any political discussions and said it was just an accidental meeting in a hotel where they bumped into each other.   

While the speculation were still on, Mr Ambedkar’s statement came up. “The Congress is party of donkeys. After meeting Sushilkumar Shinde, I felt that the Congress party was going to behave foolishly. The Congress is proficient in politicising the meeting.”   

Mr Ambedkar further said that the election is dependent on whom the people would elect. But those, who are playing davpech (games), would be taught a lesson.  

Meanwhile, Maharas-htra Congress general secretary and spokesperson Sachin Sawant said, “The donkey is an honest animal, which takes people’s load on its back. Now, this donkey (Congress) has taken the responsibility to protect the Constitution of India, which was drafted by Dr B.R. Ambedkar from the ill hands of the fascist government. However just like the animal from the story of ispaniti that tricked other animals into entering the lion’s den pretending to be a friend, so are some people’ actions. They are tricking innocent people while behaving like a friend.  

VBA leader was accompanied by local leader Anand Chandanshive and Bala Waghmare to a hotel on Saturday, while former union minister and Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde had gone to meet former speaker Shivraj Patil.

After coming across Mr Ambedkar, Mr Shinde extended a warm welcome. Mr. Ambedkar also reciprocated him.  Since a photo of the meeting had gone viral on the social media, both parties had to give a clarification, as the speculation was rife on social media platforms and political circles.
