Mumbai: A 30-year-old doctor attached to the state-run JJ Hospital in South Mumbai was killed in a motorcycle accident late on Wednesday night. The incident took place near JJ flyover when Karjindar Jeet Trilok Singh, the doctor, was returning to the hospital in his motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

According to the police, Singh had been speeding and lost control of the motorcycle. Following this, his vehicle rammed into the sidewall of the flyover. The doctor was immediately rushed to JJ Hospital, where he succumbed to head injuries. The Pydhonie police has registered an accidental death report in this case.

According to police sources attached to Pydhonie police station, the incident took place when Singh, a resident doctor of the anaesthesia department, was returning to his hostel in the JJ Hospital campus after completing his on call duty at Cama Hospital near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.

Singh’s family was informed after he succumbed to his injuries being treated. His family reached the city on Thursday.

Dr Tatyarao Lahane, dean of JJ Hospital, said, “The resident doctor was killed in an accident. We also arranged for a tribute ceremony for him, where all his loved ones in the hospital mourned his death.”Singh’s family refused to comment on the matter.
