Mumbai: After the poll that was held in Mumbai on April 29, officials said that they have received a great response to the ‘my first vote selfie’ initiative.

Participants of the initiative will be chosen as the brand ambassadors for the Assembly poll. The Election Commission (EC) will use their photos in a drive that has been planned to encourage citizens to vote. All participants of the initiative will be felicitated with certificates.

Nearly 600 first time voters participated in the competition arranged by Mumbai election office. “All participants will get certificates as token of appreciation. We are now separating all photographs to judge and will declare the 12 winners who will be felicitated,” said an official on the terms of anonymity.

According to the officer they will find out 10 first time voters from 10 different assembly constituencies. These 100 voters would be declared brand ambassadors for the coming election “For the assembly elections we have involved colleges. We will ask the colleges and authorities to display the photos of the students selected in the colleges. Also we will try to display these their photos in their area. This will motivate other students to vote in coming election,” officer added.

According to the official the idea behind the ‘My first vote selfie’ was to attract more people to vote. This idea has worked as the relatives of the first time voters accompanied them to guide them with the voting process.
