Woman’s body found in plastic gunny bag, concealed in a tank

Mumbai: The Shivaji Nagar police registered a murder case after the body of an unidentified woman in her late thirties, was found stuffed inside a plastic gunny bag on Friday. The woman was allegedly strangled to death and the bag was placed inside a vertical water tank in order to hide it, officials said.

“The body was purposely concealed inside the drum that was kept in corridor near building number 1. It was kept in Parekh compound,” said an officer at Shivaji Nagar police station.

Preliminary probe hints towards possibility of the crime taking place at a different location and the body being disposed at Parekh Compound.

Officials are also scanning the list of missing persons who match the deceased woman’s profile. A case has been registered and fuirther probe is underway.
