‘Central Rly to be completely electrified’

Mumbai: Railway minister Piyush Goyal said that rail connectivity would be provided to the Navi Mumbai airport from harbour line. Railway officials said that this connectivity would be given from Seawoods-Darave. Mr. Goyal was speaking on the occasion of commissioning of the new Nerul-Seawoods Darave-Belapur-Kharkopar suburban rail corridor in Navi Mumbai.

Appreciating efforts of the railway officials, Mr Goyal said that the Pen-Panvel electrification work has been completed nine months before scheduled date of July 2019.

While addressing the gatherings at Kharkopar, Mr Goyal said that we have ordered for more than 40 AC locals. In addition to this, we have made a provision for 200 other AC locals. It will ease the travel in Mumbai, he added.

Mr Goyal said that the work would start soon for the aterminus at Panvel station, which will be upgraded when third and fourth lines would be laid down.  He also said that 100 percent electrification in the central railway would be done within a year.

Mr Goyal also said that Indian Railway would aid to achieve the state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s dream to make Rs 72000 to Rs 75000 crore economy of the state.
