Mumbai: A video of BJP MLA Amit Satam allegedly abusing hawkers and police has gone viral, stoking a fresh controversy on Sunday. Mr Satam can be seen forcing the police official to remove the hawkers in a suburban Juhu lane.

While hurling abuses at the hawkers and the officials, he can also be seen physically assaulting the hawkers with the motive to force them to remove the encroachments in his constituency. This happens in the presence of the police.

Mr Satam said, “Four days back, there was a cylinder blast in my constituency, where four people had died. I have repeatedly made complaints to police and the BMC but it has all been in vain.”

“On that day too, I had called the police and the BMC officials to remove the illegal encroachment by these hawkers. I did not violate any rule. The video is just an attempt to malign my image and pressurise me,” said the first time BJP MLA further added.

Social activist Anjali Damania said “He kicked as well as abused the hawkers with filthy words. He spoke roughly with the police. Who gave him this right? Can an MLA use such a language? He should apologise for his behaviour.”
