Mumbai: After a special mega-block on Central Railway (CR) on Sunday, commuters on the main line and harbour line will have to brace for delays and disruptions for the next two Sundays as the railways plans to lay girders for rail over-bridges at Thane and Govandi.

More than 50 trains were delayed and 10 were cancelled as the services towards Thane were completely blocked on Sunday. The central rail route was blocked from 11.20 am and services were hit for 40 minutes.

An official said, “Thane is a vital station. So when we do any work there, we expect severe repercussions.” The official further added, “On the other hand, a block at Govandi would disrupt the connection to Mumbai. Usually, we try to run services either between Panvel and Mankhurd or up to Kurla to reduce the repercussions of the special mega block on the Harbour line.”
