Mumbai: The CBI on Friday opposed the bail application filed by Peter Mukerjea in the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, saying he was Sheena’s silent killer.

The CBI lawyer also contended that the non-presence of Peter at the scene of the incident did not mean that he was not part of the conspiracy.

Special public prosecutor CBI Bharat Badami argued before the CBI Judge J.C. Jagdale that Peter knew everything. “He was not a statue of the family. He took no steps (to find Sheena) when Rahul was desperately asking about her. Peter is Sheena’s silent killer,” he said.

Advocate Badami also argued that despite the fact that Sheena was his son Rahul’s fiancé, Peter did not take any steps to find her. The public prosecutor further argued that Rahul was yet to depose before the court and if released on bail, he could win over the witness.

The court was hearing arguments in reply to the bail application filed by Peter. The bail plea was filed in November, 2018 contending that the trial would take a long time, there was no evidence against Peter, the-re was no chance that he would flee, and hence, he should be granted bail.

Peter’s lawyer Shrik-ant Shivde had argued before the court that the charges framed against Peter were defective.
