Government avoids mentioning irrigated land percentage in survey

Irrigated land percentage issue was triggered in the Congress-NCP government.

Mumbai: The government has avoided mentioning the percentage of irrigated land in the economic survey report. 

Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said, “we are spending large amount on irrigation projects and will irrigate more than one lakh hectare of land. But due to technical issues and disputes, we have not mentioned the irrigated land percentage.”

Irrigated land percentage issue was triggered in the Congress-NCP government. Since then government appointed a committee to define the formula of irrigated land. 

But it is not finalized after 4-5 years and in the regime of BJP led government who raised the issue when they were in the opposition. 

Jalyukta Shivar is a flagship project of CM Fadnavis in which average of 5,000 villages were selected every year and water resources were created which has increased irrigation potential in large scale.
