Mumbai: Noted tennis player Leander Paes’ lawyer on Saturday cross-examined former model Rhea Pillai on whether or not she has any photographs of her marriage with Paes. Pillai told the court that she could not take photographs of her marriage with Paes on both the occasions i.e. in 2005 and 2008.

Pillai is fighting a domestic violence case against Paes in the magistrate court and her cross-examination would continue next week. Paes’ lawyer Abad Ponda asked Pillai the reason for getting married to Paes for the second time and she replied that since her divorce decree of previous marriage with Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt was completed in 2008 she got married to Paes again.

When Mr Ponda asked her if she did not feel like clicking a photograph of the wedding as she was getting married to the father of her child, she replied she did not have any photograph of the occasion. Elaborating, she said on both the occasions the circumstances were such that she could not think of getting photographed.

She said that in 2005 at the time of her first marriage she was pregnant and was not keeping well and hence she didn’t think about taking photographs. “My only concern at that time over and above my health was to solemnise the marriage,” she said adding that due to this reason both of them decided to get married through “Gandharva marriage”. Gandharva marriage is a one of the eight kinds of Hindu marriage which does not require any rituals, witnesses or family members.

According to her in 2008 she was in a difficult situation because her daughter was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. She said that their daughter would not sleep and she had to stay awake. She also said that apart from this her divorce procedure was delayed due to demise of her ex-father-in-law Sunil Dutt and legal circumstances of her ex-husband Sanjay Dutt.

Due to all these things happening simultaneously she was under stress and focussed on revising vows and did not think about taking pictures on the second occasion too.
