MUMBAI: Taking a cue from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has threatened multiplexes in Thane to air the new Marathi release, Farzand, during primetime.

Surprisingly, the MNS together with the NCP, on Thursday submitted a letter to Viviana Mall which houses the Cinepolis multiplex in Thane, demanding that the film be shown during primetime. Apparently, the recently released Marathi movie did not get the primetime slot at many places in Mumbai.

The film, directed by Digpal Lanjekar, is based on the battles fought by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his brave soldier, Farzand. It has been well received by audiences in Maharasht-ra in the opening week itself.

NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad and MNS Thane unit chief, Ravindra More, along with their party workers, went to Viviana mall, demanding primetime for the movie. “Farzand, the film based on Shivaji Maharaj, should get primetime shows. We went to Viviana mall on Thursday,” Mr Awhad tweeted after submitting the demand.

He was accompanied by MNS leaders too.
