Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to rent 100 units of two and three BHK furnished apartments for its officials working on civil construction of various Metro projects in the city. The apartments will be parallel to the alignment of Metro corridors in order to help officials save time and manage their schedule with efficiency. The apartments will be rented between Goregaon-Kandivali, Ghatkopar-Vikhroli and Kurla-Chembur stretch. The rates of the apartments will depend on the ready reckoner rates of the particular area where the apartment is being rented.

According to the officials, this will help the officials to reach the site on time and would also help them reach the spot in case of emergencies. The MMRDA has proposed to construct a network of 172-km-long Metro corridors in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Currently, MMRDA is carrying out civil works on two Metro corridors. This includes the DN Nagar-Dahisar Metro-2B corridor and the Andheri east-Dahisar east Metro-7 corridor.

MMRDA spokesperson, Dilip Kawathkar said, “There is also a shortage of apartments when it comes to accommodating our officers in staff quarters. By this exercise, both our purposes would be served which is availability of accommodation and it being nearby to Metro construction sites.”
