Mumbai: To achieve uniformity and discipline in outage management, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has issued guidelines for planned and unplanned outages.

As per the guidelines, all registered consumers across Maharashtra (except Mumbai) will receive messages about planned and unplanned outages.

The outages proposed by the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MAHATRANSCO) will be used for maintenance work.

“MSEDCL will carry out its maintenance work during the proposed outage. This will also help reduce the number of outages and trouble for consumers,” an officer said.

A MSEDCL officer said that there are nearly 2.6 crore MSEDCL consumers, out of which 2.1 crore consumers have registered their mobile numbers with the company.

“Outage depends upon the area. Accordingly, we will send the message to the consumers of that area. It will help consumers plan their work schedule. Along with residential consumers, this will also help industrial consumers. This system will also help people know the reason for the outage,” he said.
