Mumbai: Mumbai received infrequent spells of moderate rains since Friday night. The weathermen have predicted intermittent rains to continue with heavy spells at isolated places of Mumbai. The western suburbs have recorded the highest rainfall over the last 24 hours, according to weather officials.

During the last 24 hours since 8:30 am on Friday, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded 77.8mm rainfall while the Colaba observatory 54.2mm rains, according to IMD.

Weathermen have predicted that for the next 3-4 days, until July 10, rainfall of varied intensity will continue over the city of Mumbai. According to Skymet Weather, rains will mostly be moderate in nature with a few pockets witnessing heavy showers as well. In fact, during these coming days, the city is expected to see rainfall around 40-50 mm in 24 hours, even exceeding further in other pockets.

“Thereafter, starting July 11, due to an Anti Cyclone formation in the Arabian Sea, due to which the cross-equatorial flow will become weak. Northwesterly winds will blow over the region resulting in a reduction of rains,” read the Skymet Weather report.

It further added that from July 11 onwards, rains will be light to moderate in the city and rainfall amounting to 20-30 mm per day will only be seen.
