Four charged under MCOCA for arson

MUMBAI: The local crime branch (LCB) unit of the Thane (rural) police has decided to slap charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the quartet for setting ablaze a pharmaceutical ingredients’ manufacturing unit in Kashimira.

While the crime is said to be the fallout of a monetary dispute, the prime accused Kamlesh Mahesh Parekh (41), is ensconced in Sri Lanka, even as he hired goons from Borivali to inflict the damage.

According to the police, the incident was reported from Jayco Chemicals, located in an industrial area near Dodhia petrol pump during the early hours of February 10.
