Mumbai: A total of 26 people lost their lives in the wall collapse that occurred in Pimpripada, Malad. Out of them eight were minors below 10 years of age.

However, few encountered a miraculous escape including a six-month-old baby boy, Ayush Sharma. Ayush was asleep with his parents by his side when the wall collapsed on their shanty. Heavy rains caused water to accumulate in the area that washed away the child’s parents and several other residents of the area while a few others were trapped under the debris.

Ayush’s father Uttam Sharma (25) said, “We were asleep and before we could realise anything, we found ourselves being washed away due to water flow. My wife and me tried holding on to each other and our child, however, the force of the water caused us to drift apart.” He also narrated his wife survived and Ayush was found alive about half a kilometre away from the shanty.
