Mumbai: A Mumbai police sniffer dog, Max, has won a gold medal in explosives detection competition, which was held during the 60th annual All India Police Duty meet at Mysore five days ago.

Max has been with the police since the past four years. Speaking about the event, DCP Vinay Rathod said, “Dogs from almost 29 states had participated in the competition involving crime detection and explosives. The Maharashtra team came second overall in the competition.”

On Monday Mumbai police commissioner D.D. Padsalgikar and joint commissioner Deven Bharati felicitated Max for his great achievement.

In October last year, Max lost his best friend, Caesar, who saved many lives during the November 26, 2008 terror attacks.
