Mumbai: A woman delivered twins in a waiting room at Palghar railway station on Tuesday. The lady got into labour pain when she was travelling with her husband and mother-in-law to Dahanu in a local train. Chaya Savra and her newborn son and daughter are doing fine.
Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relations officer of Western Railway (WR), said, “Ms Savra delivered a boy and a girl at Palghar in Upper Class waiting room. Superintendent of Palghar station, GRP and RPF helped the lady when she went into labour pain and called 108 services. Women was transferred to government hospital at 9.55 am.”
Mr Bhakar also said that we have facilitated the safe delivery and provided all kinds of assistances required.
A police officer said that the woman went into labour this morning when she was travelling in a suburban train for Dahanu along with her husband and mother-in-law.
As the train reached Palghar railway station, Ms Savra was taken to the first class waiting room and doctors were informed, he added.
Dr Rajendra Chavan of Kanta Hospital assisted in the delivery along with Dr Umesh Dhumpalwar. Dr Chavan said that the girl was born first. The infants weighed around 2.50 kg at the time of delivery. Both mother and the infants are admitted and are under observation at Palghar rural hospital.
In September 2018, a 26-year-old woman gave birth to a baby boy at Nalas-opara station when she was on her way to a hospital in Kandivali.
