Cops arrested for accepting Rs12 lakh bribe

Mumbai: The state Anti-Corru-ption Bureau (ACB) arrested a police sub-inspector and a constable attached with Talasari police station for taking Rs12 lakh bribe for not filing a criminal case. The accused police personnel allegedly demanded a bribe from the complainant if he did not want a forgery case to be filed against him.

The accused constable was identified as Rajendra Narotea and sub-inspector Sandeep Rajgure, both attached with the Talasari police station.

When the findings of the inquiry demanded a criminal case of forgery to be filed against the complainant, the officials demanded `15 lakh bribe from him. The officials said that during a meeting with him, the amount was negotiated to `12 lakh. The ACB officials verified the complaint and subsequently laid a trap and apprehended them while accepting the bribe.

The officials said that they apprehended a private person Bajrang Shah, who accepted the bribe on behalf of the two policemen.
