Police searching for minor boy in molestation case

After the incident, the girl informed her mother about it and the two went to Charkop police station to lodge a FIR.

The girl told the police that some boy came from behind and put his hand inside her skirt.

Mumbai: A minor girl was allegedly molested by an unknown boy from the same school in the school canteen in Kandivali (west) on Thursday. The police is trying to identify the minor boy who committed the crime.

According to the Charkop police, the incident took place in the afternoon when the girl went to the canteen to eat. The girl told the police that some boy came from behind and put his hand inside her skirt.

The girl however did not pinpoint who the accused was, and the police is taking circumstantial and descriptive details of the person from her to zero in on the minor. The police said that it will also go through CCTV footage of the school to check for leads in the case. The police is questioning a group of boys who were present in the canteen and witnessed the incident.

After the incident, the girl informed her mother about it and the two went to Charkop police station to lodge a FIR.

A Charkop police official confirmed that they had lodged a FIR under Section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual offences (POCSO) Act.
