Heat leads to rise in fungal infection

Around one to twelve cases were reported with this type of fungal infection in the state.

Due to scorching heat, Maharashtra has reported a high number of fungal infection cases, stated the officer of directorate of health services.

Mumbai: Due to scorching heat, Maharashtra has reported a high number of fungal infection cases, stated the officer of directorate of health services. For instance, infection from yeast, a type of fungus, has been found in 0.8 per cent out of every 1,000 patients. Around one to twelve cases were reported with this type of fungal infection in the state.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research Dr T.P. Lahane said, “We have taken serious note of this issue, we are also drafting guidelines and protocols for the same.”
