Thieves held, items worth Rs 1.49 Lakh seized

A Palghar police officer said, “A case was registered and soon after, the Vasai unit of crime branch started investigating.

The police found that the duo was involved in five other cases registered with Tulinj and Waliv police stations.

Mumbai: Two burglars involved in five other cases of house break in and theft have been apprehended by the Palghar police. Valuables worth Rs 1.49 lakh including gold and silver have been recovered from them.

The accused identified as Ajim Shaikh and Karan Singh, both residents of Nallasopara east, used to strike together.

Between 1pm and 6pm on October 9 last year, they broke into Vijay Dabholkar’s (46) home located near Aachole lake in Aachole village, and escaped with valuables worth Rs 1.74 lakh. After a tip-off about their location, the Tulinj police arrested the duo.

A Palghar police officer said, “A case was registered and soon after, the Vasai unit of crime branch started investigating.

The accused were nabbed after a tip-off was received from the informants.” The accused have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.

The police found that the duo was involved in five other cases registered with Tulinj and Waliv police stations.
