The accident took place around 12.30 am in the Manpada area of Thane city in the early hours of Thursday when the victims were returning from a village in Ghodbunder Road after attending a pre-marriage function of an acquaintance, said an officer at Kapurbawdi police station.

The driver apparently lost control over the wheel following which, the vehicle crashed into the divider, damaging it severely, the police said. Ankush Chandwade and Arjun Pardi, both in their late 30s, died on the spot in the mishap.

According to an officer at Kapurbawdi police station, “The bodies were se-nt to the Thane civil hospital for a post-mortem and a case of accidental death was registered.”
