Kolkata: A student committed suicide at his home in Kalighat on Monday night amidst a suspicion that he became the victim of the deadly game Blue Whale. The deceased, Srijan Chowdhury (17), was a Class 11 student of science at South Point High School.

On Monday night, he took his mother’s cellphone after telling that he would now study chemistry and went to his room before locking the door from inside. When Srijan’s family members did not get any response despite repeated knocks, the door was broken. The teenaged boy was found hanging from the ceiling.

The body was sent for post-mortem. According to Srijan’s family, he went for a movie after leaving home on the pretext of going to school on August 23. Since then he looked absent-minded and was often found spending time with his cellphone which was seized by the police for investigation.

A week before going for the movie, Srijan had told her mother that his friend would be going to watch a movie seeing which no one could survive, said a senior officer of the Kalighat police station. The police is not ruling out the possibility of the impact of Blue Whale game behind the suicide.
