Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved an application before the special CBI court on Wednesday seeking permission to attach properties of Nirav Modi, his brother Neeshal Modi and Subhash Parab, an executive of Modi’s group in the PNB scam case.

The CBI counsel A. Limosin filed the petition on behalf of the agency before the special judge V.C. Barde. The CBI, in its plea has stated that the accused had left the country, and while Nirav Modi’s extradition process was pending in the United Kingdom (UK) court, the whereabouts of Neeshal and Subhash were not known and hence proclamation and permission to attach their properties should be allowed.

The agency said that the officers took efforts to execute the NBW issued against the accused but couldn’t execute them as the accused were not availabe at their respective addresses.

The CBI further stated that the accused had left the country even before the registration of the case against them. It has requested the court to make Nirav and Neeshal proclaimed offenders and also allow the agency to attach their properties under section 82 and 83 of the CrPC. The court would hear arguments on the plea in due course.
