Kolkata: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested a woman with around 12 kg of Ganja, which she was allegedly trying to smuggle to Andaman & Nicobar Islands in a flight from Kolkata airport.

The accused, Archana Jain, was going to catch the flight of a private ariline on Monday morning. When she checked in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel grew suspicious about her handbag while conducting security check on her.

They detained her and opened her bag only to find the consignment of Ganja, wrapped in a large black packet. Coming to know from the CISF the NCB arrested Archana.

During her interrogation she told the NCB officers that the consignment was procured from Krishnagar in Nadia, a district along the Indo-Bangla border, where illegal cultivation has been rampant.

Archana, further, revealed that the consignment was to be delivered in Ranghat in Andaman and was to be sold at a price three times higher than the average price, according to sources.
