Kolkata: Former state transport minister and Saradha chit fund scam accused Madan Mitra, who has been out on bail, was Wednesday granted approval by the Alipore Court to go home to see his ailing wife.

Appearing before the court in person, Mr Mitra prayed to the 10th additional district judge to allow him to visit his ailing wife at their home, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kalighat police station.

While granting bail to Mr Mitra in September earlier this year, the Alipore Court had imposed a set of conditions, one of which prohibited him from staying in the Kalighat residence.

Since then, the former Kamarhati MLA had been living in the house under the Bhowanipore police station limits. After hearing his plea, the judge granted him the permission to visit his wife at their Kalighat residence.
