Kolkata: The CBI may move the Supreme Court on Tuesday appealing for the cancellation of bail granted to Trinamul Congress MP Sudip Bandopadhyay by the Odisha high court in the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam last week.

The counsels will argue that he was an influential accused who may try to tamper with the evidence in the probe, according to sources. The visit of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who visited the party MP when he was admitted at a private hospital during his judicial custody, is likely to be referred as the magnitude of influence of Mr Bandopadhyay in the CBI’s appeal, sources added.

The Central agency may also furnish some evidence to counter the relief to the MP, sources disclosed. CBI lawyer K. Raghavachar-yulu had already made it clear that the Central agency would challenge the Trinamul MP’s bail at the higher court. Mr Bandop-adhyay has been admitted to Apollo Gleneagles Hos-pital following his return to Kolkata from Bhuban-eswar on Sunday evening.
