ICG recovers 5 more fishermen’s bodies from the Bay of Bengal

Kolkata: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has recovered five more fishermen’s bodies during its search operation in the Bay of Bengal.

With this 14 bodies were recovered so far. On Saturday ICG Inspector General (North East region) Kuldip Singh Sheoran said that the bodies were lying trapped inside the fishing boat Joykrishna.

The boat which was sighted as capsized around 30 miles south of Dalhousie Islands was towed to the coast where the process of identification of the bodies has started, an ICG statement said. Mr Sheoran informed that Dornier aircrafts from Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, a hovercraft from Frazerganj and ICG ship Sujoy carried out an extensive search for the missing fisherment inspite of inclement weather and rough seas.

He informed that the search is being continued for the remaining five fishermen. The Coast Guard station Frazerganj is coordinating with fishering associations for further operation. Meanwhile, a weather advisory to the fishermen has been issued to not to venture into sea due to depression formed in North West Bay of Bengal.
