Madhyamik candidate beaten up by friends, dies

Kolkata: One person has been arrested by the government railway police over the death of a Madhyamik candidate who was beaten up by his friends at Kankinara railway station in North 24 Parganas. 

Rajesh Khamat, the accused, was caught on Tuesday night. He was produced at the court which remanded him in police custody on Wednesday. Rajesh and his aides beat Rahul Verma at the station on Tuesday morning when Rahul, a Class 10 student of Kankinara High School was going to appear at the examination. With deep injuries Rahul was rushed to Bhatpara State General Hospital where he died later. The body was sent for post-mortem. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that there was an altercation between the victim and the accused. A complaint was lodged at the Naihati government railway police station. Interrogating Rajesh the GRP came to know that there was a tiff between the two and they had fought over it earlier also.
