Kolkata: The Trinamul Congress has decided not to challenge the CBI’s FIR in which a dozen of its leaders have been booked in the Narada sting operation. The decision was taken at a meeting at the Trinamul Bhavan on Wednesday afternoon, according to sources. Out of the 12 accused leaders, 11, including party’s Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy, urban development minister Firhad Hakim and transport minister Shubhendu Adhikary, were present, sources revealed.

Three among those present spoke in favour of legally challenging the case while others, being the majority, spoke against moving the court assuming that any such legal step may earn them the court’s ire since the Supreme Court earlier had rejected their move when they had challenged the Calcutta high court’s order of a CBI probe in the case, sources added. Finally, it was decided that the CBI’s case will not be challenged and cooperation will be extended during the course of the probe, sources disclosed.
