Kolkata: The criminal investigation department (CID) has finally filed its chargesheet against 12 accused in the rotten meat supply scam. It had earlier failed to file the chargesheet within a stipulated period of 90 days.

The state detective agency filed the chargesheet on Monday in connection with the case at Budge Budge police station, where the first case was lodged on April 19.

Sections 272, 273, 120B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code have been filed against the 12 accused — Binsen Saimon alias Bicky, Sunny Mallick, Bishwanath Gharui, Young Chai Hsio, Sikendar Ali, Sarafat Hossain, Manik Mukherji and five others — with a prayer for discharging two among the arrested accused — Pradip Roy and Samsul Abedin, who were security guards of the cold storage, from the case as there was no evidence against them, said CID deputy inspector general (operations) Nishat Parvez.

He added that Bicky, Sunny, Bishwanath, Sarafat, Manik and Golam Mohammed, alias Landa, are still in the judicial custody in another case at the Bongaon police station in the same scam.
