Kolkata: Tearing into Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his government’s recent complaint at the Supreme Court of theft of Rafale aircraft deal documents from its custody chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday directly accused him of “stealing the entire country” and “stashing away exchequer’s money elsewhere.”

She even alleged that terrorism has shot up over 250 percent during Mr Modi’s rule in the country. The Trinamul Congress supremo also predicted that normalcy would be restored in J&K only after Mr Modi’s ouster from power. Her latest salvo on the PM came at a rally she led in the city to mark the International Women’s Day.

Ms Banerjee told Mr Modi, “Today they are alleging Rafale files have been stolen...you have stolen the entire country! What else has been left by you? Once you go out of power, the nation will come know that you had stolen all resources of the country. Now they are claiming of theft of Rafale files.”

She asked him, “Didn’t you steal the documents relating to internal security of the country? Have they been stolen also? How can you maintain the security of the country when you can not keep the Rafale documents safe? The day he goes out of power, all will understand that he has stashed away funds from the treasury somewhere else. Sooner you go out of power, the better it will be.”

As the Trinamul supremo shouted slogan: “Rafale Mein Shor Hain”, her party workers replied “Modibabu Chor Hai”. Lambasting the PM, Ms Banerjee argued, “Unemployment touched two crore figure in between 2016 and 2018 during Mr Modi’s rule. They have failed to provide meal to the farmers, could not offer jobs to the youth and did not succeed in bringing back black money to the country also.”

During the demonetisation they reasoned that it was needed to destroy the terrorists. But the fact is terrorism has grown by 260 per cent. In the last five year they didnt even give it a thought why Uri, Path-ankot and Pulwama atta-cks took place. Why had so many jawans to give their lives despite having prior information?”

Ms Banerjee claimed, “Now the elections are round the corner, they are showing off missles. A new government which will come to power will tackle extremism. It will bring back peace in Kashmir. The situation of the country is so pathetic that RBI governor had to resign and CBI director had to leave. You have destroyed each and every institution starting from CAG.”

She noted, “There is only one slogan: Modibhai Modibhai. He is busy in campaigning. He has no other work to do. They earlier could not get food. Now they are buying motorbikes for crores for party workers. What is the price of a two-wheeler? Where is the money coming from? Whose money is it? It is the people’s money, Rafale money, demonetisation proceeds.”

The TMC chief observed that whenever the polls come, a demand for women’s reservation upto 30 cent in the Lok Sabha is raised by the political parties. “But our party has already women’s representation of around 35 per cent among its MPs in the parliament. In the coming elections also female candidates more than 33 per cent will be fielded,” she added.
