Nagpur: A major rail tragedy was averted on Tuesday, after wheel of a express train broke midway before reaching Nagpur and passengers had miraculous escape. A wheel of 2AC coach of 15015 Gorakhpur-Yashwantpur Express broke and when passengers heard the noise they pulled the alarm chain thereby bringing the train to a grinding halt.

The passengers later found that wheel broke between Sonkhamb and Kohli station, about 40 kms from city in Nagpur division of Central Railway.

The train arrived about six hours late in Nagpur and a new 2AC coach was added which passengers accommodated and the train left for Yashwantpur. Due to the incident Rail traffic towards South was affected and five trains were running late. No passenger was hurt.
