Nashik: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday announced that cancer’s treatment has been brought under the Mahatma Phule Jeevandaye Arogya Scheme. The move will benefit poor cancer patients, he said during a programme in Dhule city.

“After UP, the maximum cancer patients are observed in Maharashtra and is a worrying factor. This is increasing due to the use of gutkha and tobacco. During a recent medical camp, cancer was detected among some school children. While cancer gives pain to the patient, it also affects the family and hence the government has brought its  treatment under the health scheme and also the CM health office,” he said.
