Pune: A 27-year-old man allegedly strangulated his wife on early Tuesday morning, in a fit of rage over not taking proper care of his parents. After the murder, the man went to the police station and told them about what he had done.

The deceased has been identified as Madhuri Chavan, a 22-year-old housewife. She used to reside with her husband, Akash Chavan, an auto driver, in Sainath nagar, Phursungi, Hadapsar.

According to police officials, Akash had married Madhuri five years ago against the wishes of their parents. Soon, problems started cropping up in their marriage, as Madhuri was not keen to take care of his parents. They used to often fight over it.

Akash was particularly angry with her, as she had allegedly thrown his mother out of their house two months ago. She had also abused his father, who had left the house along with his mother. The parents had moved out of the house to stay in another place.
