New Delhi: Heavy rain continued for second day in Delhi-NCR led to flooded roads and traffic jams on Wednes-day, throwing morning schedules off gear.
It was a cloudy, humid morning in the national capital on Wednesday with the minimum temperature recorded at 26.3 degrees Celsius, the season’s average. The Nation-al Capital Region received heavy rain fall on Tuesd-ay. There was 12mm of rainfall recorded at Safda-rjung Obsevatory in the last 24 hours as the weather office predicted more rains in the later part of the day.
Rains lashed parts of Delhi on Wednesday afternoon after a sultry morning, the Meteorological Department said. The weatherman has predicted heavy rains towards the evening in more parts of the city. The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 am was 25 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.8 degrees Celsius, three not-ches above normal while the minimum was 26 degr-ees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.
Traffic was affected on Palam Dabri road and near Gandhi nagar area naming some. Delhi traffic police was updating about the waterlogging situation through their twitter handle.
School children and their parents who were stranded for hours in flooded jam-packed roads in Gurgaon were forced to turn back home due exce-ss flooding on roads.
Morning rush hour traffic was affected because of flooding of arterial roads, prompting the Delhi Traffic Police to put out alerts on Twitter. #DelhiRains was one of the top trends on Twitter. Pictures on social media showed cars and bikes driving through flooded roads.

Tuesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 31.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, while the minimum temperature settled at 26 degrees Celsius. Delhi and Gurgaon witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday that paralysed normal life and disrupted the traffic movement in several areas, including the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway, due to waterlogging.
