New Delhi: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday tore a report from L-G Anil Baijal on CCTV cameras in the city, in front of a packed audience.

Mr Kejriwal was speaking on the CCTV project at Indira Gandhi stadium when he tore a report from the L-G which said  if locals installed CCTVs using their own money, a licence from cops should be mandatory.

“The report says police will see if the colony needs the CCTV or not. Who will decide this if the colony needs CCTV or not? The public or the L-G? The public or the police? The public or the BJP? The public will decide,” he said.

Mr Kejriwal then asked the audience if they think license should be taken for installing CCTVs to which the audience replied in the negative. He then asked the public what should be done with the report.

“Licence means “give money and take licence”. It is the will of the people that this report should be torn,” he said, before actually shredding the report to pieces.

The Delhi government had organised a public consultation on Sunday on the CCTV cameras project for residential and market areas entire Delhi and will cover all Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and market associations.
