New Delhi: Moving ahead with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “digital India” initiative, the BJP ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Monday launched an android app and website for lodging online complaints against violations in its parking sites. Launching the facility, NDMC’s mayor Preety Agarwal informed that if a citizen found any violation vis-a-vis terms and conditions, he can simply select the violation and a parking listed in the app and click the photo or video as proof.

According to Ms Agarwal, citizens can download the app from NDMC portal (http://www.mcdonline.gov.in) and it will also be available on Google Play Store soon. The complainant can also register the complaint via online website by logging on to http://www.northmcd.com/parking.

“As soon as the complaint is submitted online through the website or by app to Remunerative Projects (RP) Cell, a unique complaint number is generated and the same is intimated to the complainant through e-mail as an acknowledgment of his complaint (SMS facility will be incorporated soon). The complainant can also track the status of his/ her complaint and the action taken by RP Cell against violation through his unique complaint id on the website or app,” she said.

The NDMC will take the cognisance of the violation based on the proof uploaded and take appropriate action such as imposing penalty, cancellation, etc., of the contract of parking site. Only one penalty per violation per day is imposed as per rules.

“This app would be instrumental in regulating the parking lots in a better manner. Besides, the citizens would be able to get better and transparent services by knowing the terms of violations like overcharging, not displaying details on the board, depicting details including rates, name of the contractor, area details of the contractor, phone number in case of complaint, usage of hand held device etc.,” she added.

Ms Agarwal claimed that this app would empower the citizens with knowledge about parking contract and terms of services to be rendered. It would also help in nailing the defaulters for violation.

“The citizens can also provide suggestions for improvement of parking lots through this app or website,” said Ms Agarwal.
