New Delhi: Within three days of winning a massive mandate in the civic polls, BJP has swung into action to make the city roads garbage free in three months.

Realising that it cannot achieve the target without the active participation of the sanitation workers, the party is planning to introduce several welfare measures for them. A party insider said that Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari interacted with the municipal commissioners on Friday to discuss their demands and concerns.

Mr Tiwari, whose parliamentary constituency spreads across the North and East civic bodies, had a long discussion with the municipal commissioners of North and East Delhi Municipal Corporation and explained to them the party’s agenda. Sources said that Mr Tiwari emphasised on the urgent need of motivating the sanitation workers. “Civic officials have to be sympathetic to the sanitation workers. Civic bodies must take care of its employees and engage with them. For better motivation, corporations must include the families of its employees too,” Mr Tiwari told the two municipal commissioners.
