Youth thrashes traffic cop, tears uniform in scuffle

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an ASI was thrashed by a youth when the cop asked him to produce documents of his vehicle. The entire episode was recorded on camera by the accused’s woman friend.

A couple was riding a bike in an inappropriate manner without helmet and valid documents in Paharganj area after the weather turned a bit cool on Wednesday.

Delhi traffic police ASI Balkar Singh (57) alleged that he spotted the duo and asked them to pull over, but instead they accelerated. However, another cop stopped them.

According to Mr Singh, the youth indulged in a verbal spat with him and when he neared him, the youth punched him four to five times in the abdomen. When the other traffic policeman saw this they tried to intervene. The scuffle turned violent and leading to Mr Singh’s uniform being torn.

The most annoying thing was that the youth’s woman friend was recording the entire incident and threatened to teach them how to do the duty.
