1 killed as speeding car hits 2-wheeler

New Delhi: A mother-and-a-daughter duo was allegedly hit by an overspeeding car, driven in a rash and negligent manner, on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the incident took place late Sunday evening at the Moti Bagh main road in South Delhi.

While the 50-year-old mother was declared dead by doctors, the 22-year-old daughter is said to be critical.

The mother and daughter were heading towards Vishnu Garden from West Govindpuri on a two-wheeler when the car, allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, hit the rider from behind.

As a result, Ranjeet Kaur, who was riding pillion, fell onto the road and sustained critical head injury while the rider, Navneet Kaur, sustained injuries on her hands, legs, neck and head. A PCR call was received regarding an accident following whi-ch police team rushed to the spot and moved the duo to a hospital, where Ranjeet Kaur was declared dead.

The police said that the driver left the car and fled the spot. The South Campus police has registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.

Further investigation is underway.
