Man held for online theft, 55 SIMs seized

New Delhi: The cyber cell of Southeast district on Monday arrested a person for online theft.

They seized 55 SIM cards, five mobile phones, eight credit/debit cards, and 11 cheque books from his possession.

The accused, identified as  Gaurav Sharma (24), is a resident of Noida.

He was involved in an online theft case, filed on the complaint of an aged woman who told the police of two unauthorised bank transactions to a digital wallet of unknown person/s.

The team zeroed in on Sharma’s IP address used for transferring the amount into PayZapp Wallet and The Mobile Wallet from the victim’s bank account.

After confirming the identity of the suspect, a raid was conducted on Wednesday on the accused house. He mislead the police by posing as a medical student ands when confronted, the accused admitted to his guilt.

During cursory search of his home, one of his laptops which contained e-Wallets app, used for transferring the amount from the aged woman’s bank account.
