New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women has said that it will complain to Delhi police commissioner against JDU leader Sharad Yadav and BJP leader Vinay Katiyar over derogatory comments made by them. The commission has demanded registration of an FIR against these politicians.

“The DCW has demanded registration of an FIR against these politicians. Mr Sharad Yadav had stated that value of vote was greater than value of daughters. This has shamed the daughters of our entire nation. Mr Vinay Katiyar has stated that there are more beautiful campaigners than Priyanka Gandhi. This is extremely derogatory and anti-women,” the commission said in a statement.

Recently, SP politician Abu Azmi and Karnataka home minister G. Parmeshwar had made derogatory sexist remarks in wake Bengaluru mass molestation incident. DCW had recommended registration of FIRs on these to the police commissioner.

The DCW chairperson stated that strict action was not being taken against politicians giving such horrendous statements because of lack of requisite laws against such incidents. DCW is of the view that such leaders should be immediately made to step down from public life and strict action should be taken.
