New Delhi: A Class 12 girl allegedly committed suicide in Rohini’s Bakhtawarpur area on Friday. She was reportedly stalked by her neighbour who even threatened to kill her parents. The accusesd also allegedly tried to molest her several times.

“These boys are everywhere; I am tired,” — the note read, which was written in an apologetic tone by a 17-year-old girl.

The police said the girl was found hanging at her residence from the ceiling of her room on Friday. The Class 12 student’s last note emphasised how she did nothing wrong; insinuating that her stalking was unwarranted. She left behind a suicide note, written in Hindi, explaining the reason behind her extreme step. The police has registered an FIR in the case.

The suicide note read that some boys from the neighbourhood were stalking her and how the subsequent harassment was taking an unbearable emotional toll on her.

According to DCP Rohini, the accused, identified as 20-year-old Mayank, used to stalk her and harass her. He had even threatened to kill her parents, one of the relatives of the victim claimed. Troubled by his constant harassment, the teenager ended up taking her own life, they added.

“She never spoke to me about this. In her suicide note, she has written that the boys used to trouble her,” said Sonu, the brother of the deceased.

A case has been registered in the matter under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“Efforts are being made to arrest the accused,” said DCP Rohini.

This incident has come just days after a Class 9 Noida girl committed suicide over alleged sexual harassment.
